love love love

Not only am I a guest for the Clean and Simple Card Making 2 class, but I also have the privilege of being a participant! It's only Day 3, and I have learned so much.

Today Jennifer McGuire shared some tips on gradient stamping.  I used 3 shadow inks from Hero Arts- the 2 feathers on the outside and the one in the center.  The other 2 feathers are a result of double inking.  I love how 3 colors that I might not typically put together all of a sudden seem harmonious on the card:

I made this while stamping at Jessica's tonight, and I have to admit that it took me an insanely long amount of time to execute.  I had to practice my gradient on a separate piece of paper, then measure out the spacing, then finally stamp it out.  But I'm really happy with the result!

Wednesday Wishlist

Time for another Wednesday Wishlist!

I've been taking the Clean and Simple Card Making 2 online card class, and have seen a few cards that used masking paper- I'm inspired to give it a try!

Specifically, the one in the upper-left corner.  I saw it was in this month's kit, and I just love it!  What a cool design!!

How have I not gotten these yet??

I don't even make Valentine's Day cards for anyone, but the spirit of the holiday is making me want this set! (for the record, I buy those little kid valentines with Disney Princesses or superheroes on them to give to my work friends...along with candy of course, hehe)

What's on your wishlist this week?

PS. Thanks to everybody who gave me input a few weeks ago regarding a guillotine trimmer.  I bought this one, and I adore it!  I feel like such a pro now :)

Joy is Love

Hey there friends!  Yep- it's group project time over at Clear and Simple Stamps. I love group project days....I always get so excited to hop around and see what the other designers have made!

Today is all about love notes.  I designed a set of mini cards that could be given to a spouse, boyfriend, family member, child, etc.  Wouldn't it be fun to tuck one of these into your kid's backpack or lunch box?  No one ever said that love notes are only for your significant other.

Don't be fooled by the huge picture above- the cards are only 3.25 inches square. (these are headed for the itty bitty challenge in the Moxie Fab World)

The die I used is a limited edition, so if you don't have it you could easily stamp the letters, die cut them individually using an alphabet die set/electronic die cutter, or use Thickers.

CSS Release Week 4

Today is the last day of the product reveals for Clear and Simple Stamps' Collection 6 release.  It's been a fun ride!  I especially love the new alpha set, Alpha Shadow.  I used it to create a cute gift set:

The card says "for you," which I know implies that I'm giving this to someone.  But nope- I'm Jenny, so I'm keeping it for myself! (did you know that in high school I went by "Jenny?"  My close friends still call me that, even though now I just go by "Jen")

I tried out a faux letterpress technique by inkin up a woodgrain imprint plate- it definitely looks cooler in real life than in the photo.

To make the mug, I stamped each letter individually with Staz-on ink.  Does anyone have any experience with using it on porcelain? The ink dried easily, but I can still scrape it off.  I think I'm going to throw it in the oven in an attempt to heat-set it, but if that doesn't work I'll just use it on my desk for pens/pencils instead of for drinking.  Either way it's cute!  The curve of the mug was difficult to stamp on, so I intentionally stamped the letters in an arc. If I attempted a straight line, any slight misalignment would be painstakingly obvious!
